STEM: Lego Education SPIKE Prime

Saw this new Lego Education STEM related product for Grades 6 thru 8 from coming in August 2019.

The Lego website gives this quick overview of SPIKE:

“LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime is a powerful STEAM learning solution for middle school that combines LEGO bricks, coding language based on Scratch, and a programmable multi-port Hub to help every learner become a confident learner.”

SPIKE comes with a hub that allows the student to build a STEM related device using LEGO blocks, then program that device (using the SCRATCH-based programming language), and learn how to troubleshoot, re-design, and test just like a real engineer (like me!).

Lego has developed lesson plans to help the teacher design a STEM lesson. and discusses how SPIKE can align with your curriculum.

Looks like a lot of fun and a great learning experience for middle school students and old retired engineers. 🙂
