You have probably heard by now that you can make a phone call using Gmail. I can verfiy…it works!  But voice only, no video…..yet. Here is how it worked: Using my trusty Toshiba laptop (now over 4 years old and going strong) I got on my Gmail account and saw the prompt “Call Phone”.  (I […]

Google Dumps Wave

So maybe I am a late breaking blog?  How funny.  On that note:  Did anyone see the effects of the solar storm?  I did not. Anyway….I was reading ComputerWorld online today and saw that Google has dropped WAVE. No surprise there. AltamontCowork member, Phil, and I played with it last year (when we finally got our coveted invitation to try

CNN reports today that President Obama announced the support for the expansion of broadband into areas that are lacking this connectivity now. This Android-based TV (sure hope it will be High Def…interesting, Friend Paul posted this link on Facebook that mentions 1080p HD) will connect to your

What I found out is that Glance is different. Glance is “easy-to-use screen sharing tool”. Pure and simple. It does not support: VoIP, audio conferencing bridge, or videoconferencing integration. It does not support scheduling, email, or many of

Personal Telepresence – The Original

With all the hoopla about “Personal Telepresence”, I dug up this 1994 video segment showing our “Personal Telepresence” concept of 1992 (see this link for the original abstract (or this newer link). This video is using the CLI Cameo which was the very first desktop videoconferencing system….enjoy.  By the way, we are the ones who coined the term: Personal Telepresence
